The Importance of Creating Your Vision by Joshua Warren, CLC, MHA

Our vision is what drives us to move through life with ease and determination. It is what helps us to see what's in front of us and decide which direction to go next. Luckily, we are blessed to have physical vision to navigate the world around us, but often times we neglect the other type of vision that we possess which is our mental vision.

Our mental vision is created by our third-eye or pineal gland found right between our eyebrows in our brain. The pineal gland helps us to take in light and darkness, just as our physical eyes. In addition, our third eye is also believed to be the home of our soul in many spiritual systems. In addition to the third eye, humans possess a chakra by the same name that when awakened grants us access to wisdom, intuition, deeper self-reflection, higher self-confidence, and logic. This is the center of where our mental vision comes alive.

Have you ever closed your eyes and had a thought that mentally transported you to a distant place without having to take one step? The third eye and its corresponding chakra are responsible for this image. What if I told you that there is power in that ability? That's right, our third eye holds the power to create mental images and visualizations that send mental vibrations of that reality permeating through the universe. One thing that we know about the universe is the law of attraction. Elizabeth Scott, Ph.D says this about the law of attraction in her 2020 VeryWellMind article, "The law of attraction is a philosophy suggesting that positive thoughts bring positive results into a person's life, while negative thoughts bring negative outcomes. It is based on the belief that thoughts are a form of energy and that positive energy attracts success in all areas of life, including health, finances, and relationships."

This means that whatever we choose to think and believe, whether good or bad, is what we will manifest in our lives. Once this concept is fully understood, we can begin to tap into the value of source energy (infinite intelligence, God force, etc.) and envision the lives that we wish to manifest. Have you ever made a vision board? Vision boards are great tools to help us dictate the vision of our life for the scale of one year. It is believed that those that create a vision board are more successful at realizing everything included on their board. Although it is an extremely helpful tool, a vision board only helps in the manifestation process.

People that lack vision for their own lives tend to stick to routines that scatter their energy. This makes it difficult for them to complete specific projects and makes procrastination God. On the other hand, people with strong visions of their lives tend to live more successful, abundant lives that bring them joy. Creating a vision for your life is as simple as asking yourself what you want your ideal life to look and feel, as well as what and who you'd want it to include. The more specific you can be the better. Before you know it, you've created a full life vision that includes everything that you want out of life in it.

What about if we find new things that we want to add or change in our visions? The beauty about your vision is that it is yours and you have the power to change it. Life is about having the power to pivot. In my Power of the Pivot workshop, I outline the value that comes with our ability to pivot when life is leading us down an unfavorable path. Maybe we began a career that was great at the beginning and we lost our drive for it. Maybe we fell out with very close friend and need to establish new relationships with ourselves and others. Maybe our financial situation changed and we now have to make changes in our lives. These are called "life transitions" and when life presents us with opportunities to spark change that will propel us into the next season of our lives, the importance of the pivot becomes clear.

Many times when presented with challenging situations we tap into our fight or flight mode also referred to as "survival mode." When we shift into this mode and lack vision, it is easy to find ourselves securing our lives to systems and routines that bring us comfort or stability. This may sound great when thinking in terms of survival, but what about when you want to thrive? In order to thrive we must have a vision of what success means to us. This means that we must take the time to decide what a successful life (life of abundance) looks and feels like to us.

In my new workshop Defining Your Vision, we talk deeper about the value of establishing your vision and provide the time, space, and tools to create your vision of success in real time. Stop living by chance and wondering what a good life could look like for you. You already hold the power to make it a reality. The only way to fail is to never begin. This workshop will inspire and encourage you to establish what you want out of your life and motivate you to go out and get it. You know why? Because you absolutely can! If you have been struggling living paycheck to paycheck without direction, stuck in a relationship with yourself or others that's going nowhere, or if you you just don't know what's next, this workshop is for you.

Your life was designed with you in mind. Now is the time to take it by the wheel and decide exactly where you want to go with it. What stories do you want to tell? What impact do you want to leave? What will grant you the life of immense joy and expansion? Your future is only one action step away. Make the most of it!
